Saint-Paul

Saint-Paul est une commune française située dans le département et la région de La Réunion. Avec 104 332 habitants, elle est la 40^e de France par sa population selon le recensement de l'Insee au 1^er janvier 2013 qui détermine la population légale au 1^er janvier 2016¹, la deuxième de La Réunion. Elle est la ville-centre d'une agglomération de 171 652 habitants en 2013², qui comprend aussi les communes du Port et de La Possession.

With 104 332 inhabitants, it is the 40th of France by its population according to the Census of the Insee on the 1^st of January 2013, which determines the legal population on the 1^st of January 2016, the second in the reunion island. It is the city-center of a city of 171 652 inhabitants in 2013, which also includes the communes of the Port and the Possession.

Sa devise est : « Berceau du peuplement et baie du meilleur ancrage ».

Its motto is: "Cradle of the settlement and the best anchorage Bay."

Géography

La commune de Saint-Paul est située sur la côte ouest de l'île de La Réunion. Elle est limitrophe de Cilaos, du Port, de La Possession et de Trois-Bassins.

The commune of Saint-Paul is located on the West coast of the island of Réunion. It borders cilaos, the Port, the Possession and three Basins.

The communal territory is the largest of the Department. It covers a part of the Mafate circus and its highest point is located very close to the Summit of Gros Morne, at 2 990 m altitude (meters above sea level). Another summit is located at the borders of the commune: The Grand Bénare, which rises to an altitude of 2 898 m.

This territory includes notably forests and a Savannah, the Savannah of St. Paul.
