Toubab Dialo

Description

Toubab Dialo (or Toubab Dialaw) is a village in Senegal, located on the petit cost (small coast), south of Dakar, between Bargny and Popenguine.

Between Poppenguine and Mbour, 50 km south of Dakar, the coastal village of Toubab Dialaw is without a doubt one of the most interesting to visit! Amazing and warm.

The cultural center “Sobo Bade“is amazing at the level of architectural and cultural level. In addition, you can eat well in a frame and with a unique panorama!


History

According to the legend-the volunteers are being Relayed by the tourist guide - El Hadj Omar Tall an inspirational figure for the Toucouleur’s, would have come to this village and made flow a source of fresh water on the beach with a mysterious virtue.

Administration

The village is part of the rural community area of Yenne. It is located in the department of Rufisque (area of Dakar).

The closest locations (distance) are Gorée island , Yene Tode, Lela, Khobi, Kelle, Tiabla, Thilaw and Tilene.

Population


The habitants are mainly Lebous. Officially credited with 2,210 inhabitants in 2003, Toubab Dialo now counts more than 3,000 people.

Culture

The village is a home for the sand school, an international center for traditional and contemporary African dance which was  created in 1998 and choreographed by choreographer Germaine Acogny.
