Description
After years of living in Brasilia , I finally went to see the TV Tower Fair. In fact, I only went to buy a present, since it was the only thing "open" in the city on Sunday morning. In addition to the present, I have found many useful products for both locals and tourists alike. I noticed some important things for those who want to see the fair, which operates around one of the main attractions in Brasilia.
If you are looking for a free tour tip in Brasilia, this is a good suggestion. Look what I found from my visit to the TV Tower Fair, with some important information, such as opening hours and tips on how to get there.
1. It's less roots than before
Watching the fair just passing through the Monumental Axis, I thought it worked like a fair, with tents armed there on the central lawn. In fact they are fixed shops, in three or four pavilions. From what I saw on the official site , it was so tidy after a more or less recent change.
2. Do not just have crafts
Although the name is FAT (Tower Craft Fair), there is an all for sale at the fair. It has clothing, furniture, toys and many tourist articles from Brasilia, such as keychains, t-shirts and small replicas of icons of the capital, such as the National Congress, the JK Museum and the TV Tower itself.
3. But the best are the same crafts
There are lots of cool things at the fair, like swinging nets, puppets and indigenous items, like pipes and rattles, and dozens of bead accessories stalls.
4. There is the sign Eu Amo Brasilia
I had already seen some pictures of the sign Eu Amo Brasilia, but I had no idea that it was there on the side of the TV Tower, where there is also the luminous fountain. So, if you want to guarantee this classic photo of Brasilia, IAMSTERDAM style, it is worth combining the visit with the TV Tower Fair.
5. Hours are a mystery
I asked in three different stalls about the days and hours of operation of the fair and I had three different answers. I think each one answered me about the times of the store itself. The official website and the page on the face do not have the information. Google Maps says it's Thursday to Sunday, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The Secretary of Tourism of Brasília informs that it is from Tuesday to Thursday, from 9am to 5pm and, from Friday to Sunday, from 9am to 6pm.
6. Go early in the morning
The sun is strong almost all year in Brasilia. Between one storehouse and another there is no shade.Much of the parking is in the sun. So if you do not want to fry your scalp and then get into the car-oven, better go to the fair early on at 9am. Incidentally, it is difficult to find places to park. If you are in the south or north, you can walk.
7. It is worth to visit the Tower Fair
For locals, it is a useful place to buy different furniture, swing nets and enjoy the city itself. For tourists, it is a cool tour that can be combined with other attractions, as the TV Tower is near the JK Memorial, the Indigenous Peoples Memorial and on the way to the Esplanade of the Ministries, as well as being close to the main entrance of the City and the National Stadium, "the ugliest stadium in the World Cup".
