Living Museum of Memory C

Description

The Living Museum of Memory Candanga occupies the premises of the now extinct Juscelino Kubitschek Hospital in Oliveira (HJKO), the first one built in the new Federal District . It is situated on the banks of the BR-040, near Bandeirante Nucleus (former Free City).

The hospital and the staff quarters were built in wood. The construction time was only two months and the inauguration took place in 1957.

After the inauguration of the District Hospital (current Base Hospital) the HJKO went into decline, being deactivated in 1974.

However, some employees remained living there, which attracted other people. Finally, the residents were sent to nearby places, and the place was finally overturned, being today, next to Catetinho , the greatest representation of the architecture of the time of the construction of the new capital of the country, Brasilia .

Today, a good part of its facilities have been renovated: in the old houses of the employees, artistic workshops work. In the old hospital, there is a library, the permanent exhibition "Dust, Canvas and Concrete", and an updated model of Brasilia.

The museum can be visited free of charge from Tuesday to Sunday.
